Priya is a first-gen, bi-racial, womxn who strongly believes that every girl deserves equality. Through FRF, she will advocate for change, so that one- day all women, regardless of their circumstances will have their voices heard.
Nasri Maktal is a first generation, Somali, Muslim, womxn. She considers herself an activist and is dedicated to shattering stigmas and breaking down barriers. She hopes she can empower womxn like her through FRF and will not stop until it is achieved.
Yasmin Maktal, is currently a student at Duke University studying Biology, Chemistry and Global Health. Yasmin has spent many years volunteering with Somali immigrants and refugees, which led to her interest in decreasing healthcare disparities as well as raising awareness about these disparities. As she learned more about healthcare and learned more about the business and financial side, she realized this is where her real interests lie. This led Yasmin to take on the role of CFO for FRF. She saw this as an opportunity to combine her interests in finance and giving back to her community. Her problem solving and analytical skills have helped FRF take off and continue to impact the lives of refugee women. Through this organization she hopes to one day help decrease poverty through financial development.
Chief Financial Officer
Aaliyah Kellogg is a 16 year old black womxn who developed a love for journalism at a young age. She believes writing and the ability to share someone’s story is a powerful tool for social change. Through FRF, she wants to collaborate with other womxn to feel empowered while sharing their story.
Meera Dear is a first generation, Indian, Hindu womxn. As an activist she is prides herself as a diligent supporter and of intersectional feminism. As volunteer coordinator she hopes to reach out to others looking to spread FRF’s cause and spread the message of empowerment.
This is Juwaria Jama, she is a 15 year old freshman who likes to think activism is her call. Juwaria is passionate about social justice and enjoys playing soccer along with writing poetry and camping in the summer. She hopes to empower and uplift other young womxn through FRF and the other organizations she is apart of.
